Summer Conferences Employment
Conferences & Visitor Services (C&VS) provides administrative and logistical support to clients who want to host a conference or event at the University of Maryland. We coordinate a full range of campus services that includes meeting space reservations, transportation, dining, on-campus lodging, and much more. During the summer, we host adult/youth conferences, athletic camps, special events, and University of Maryland academic programs. Employees will have the opportunity to work with various service providers and campus departments (i.e. Dining Services, Resident Life, Transportation Services, The Stamp, etc.) to ensure the seamless operation of each conference.

Our preferences for these positions are that you possess a valid driver’s license and are currently a student at, or recent graduate of, the University of Maryland. Below is a listing of C&VS student supervisory positions.

How To Apply
Please follow this checklist to ensure that you fully complete the application process and are considered for a position:
- Review Qualifications. Ensure that you meet the minimum requirements listed in the job description(s).
- Attend an Information Session. Attendance at a mandatory information session is required.
- Submit an online application. Complete and submit your online application by Friday, October 31, 2025.
- Submit Recommendation Forms. Submit recommendation forms only (no letters), completed by teachers, staff, faculty, or mentors—either within or outside of UMD—who can speak to your skills, abilities, and potential.
- Check Your Email. Watch for a confirmation email in your @umd.edu account indicating that you have been added to the ELMS course: C&VS Employment. This should occur within two (2) business days after submitting your application.
- Access the ELMS Course. Log into the course at elms.umd.edu using your Directory ID and password to access and complete your video interview.
- Complete Video Interview & Recommendation Form. Submit both your video interview and your recommendation form by Wednesday, November 5, 2025 at 11:59 PM.
- Group Interview Notification. Applicants selected for the second round (group interview) will be notified by Wednesday, November 12, 2025. Group interviews will be held on either November 19 or November 20 starting at 5:00 PM. Please hold both dates on your calendar.
- Final Decisions. Final decisions will be sent via email on Friday, November 21, 2025.
C&VS Information Sessions
Conferences & Visitor Services Information Sessions are available to interested students that want to learn more about our department, available positions, and operations. Information Sessions provide prospective employees an opportunity to meet with current professional and student employees to learn about our summer conference operation, job responsibilities, and have the opportunity to ask questions.
Information Sessions are mandatory for new supervisor applicants and recommended/voluntary for assistant applicants.
