Individual Campus Daily Visits
The Office of Admissions offers MyMaryland Information Sessions on a reservation only basis. The MyMaryland session begins with a 45-minute information session including a question and answer period conducted by an Admissions representative and held in the Visitor Center auditorium. Immediately following the presentation is a 75-minute walking tour of campus led by a Maryland Images student. For reservations, visit www.admissions.umd.edu or call 800.422.5867.
The Office of Undergraduate Admissions also offers Terrapin Tours (a campus walking tour) Monday-Friday at 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. throughout the year (with a few exceptions between academic terms), led by Maryland Images student staff. Reservations are encouraged but not required for these walking campus tours for prospective students and their families, which depart from the Rossborough Inn. You are encouraged to arrive 20 minutes prior to the tour to view a video presentation.
Tours for young students and special groupsSpring Tours are now full. We are still accepting requests for summer and fall.
Tours for groups of elementary and middle school students, alumni, visiting faculty and community groups, are provided by Visitor Center student staff. The one hour tour highlights key campus locations and includes stops at iconic campus landmarks.
The tour can be customized to best meet the needs of your group. Groups may wish to extend their campus visit by eating in one of our campus dining centers or Stamp Union food court.
Tour requests must be made in writing to firstname.lastname@example.org at least two weeks in advance of your visit, as available campus tour times do fill quickly.
If you miss an opportunity to catch a tour, or would simply prefer to see campus on your own, walking or driving tour maps are available to pick up at the Visitor Center.
Our Visitor Guide also includes several suggested self-guided tours, and information about the University. The guide can be accessed online here. Printed copies are available at the Visitor Center.
